New Jersey's Dept Environmental Protection has begun listening to the voices of all Jersey City residents regarding the future of Liberty State Park. Let's be clear, nothing has been finalized but the current DEP leadership has made it known they intend to make active recreational activities a realization.
As much as the Friends of Liberty State Park's head Sam Pesin, tries to spin a narrative of his group welcoming active recreation to LSP, they have been the biggest opponents.
Sam Pesin has for years advocated as though LSP was his own. Community Leaders, Elected Officials, and Jersey City residents have been pushing for over a year for the State to begin fulfilling the promises it made in the 1977 Master Plan for LSP.
Pesin has implemented a campaign of division and deflection. The State DEP is now welcoming input from the public and no longer are they catering to the pressures from Friends of Liberty State Park. In essence, stripping Sam Pesin of being the self-appointed Public Voice of LSP.
For far too long Sam has felt LSP was his inheritance given that his father, Morris Pesin, at one time was one of the leading voices in the founding of Liberty State Park.
It should be noted more than a few media outlets, continue to allow Pesin to use their platforms as his pulpit as he continues to accuse Black and Brown Activists that oppose his efforts as bought and sold cattle.
