Yesterday, via his Twitter account, Fulop announced he would forego his 2013 pledge of only serving two terms, and would definitely seek a third term in 2021.As you may remember for over a year the Chronicler-In-Chief has been stating that Fulop was not running for a second term, but a third term. More than a few local politicos were given their notice that the Boss of Jersey City would not be exiting in 2 years for a Congressional seat. The first signal was marked by Fulop’s silent approval of Rolando Lavarro’s second round as Council President. Sorry, Joyce, the Mayor likes you, but at this point, Fulop believes Lavarro is a better game manager.Secondly, when the Mayor announced he would be supporting that 50% of the newly built housing at the Bayfront development be mandated for affordable housing, I was assured the Mayor still has his sights set on building a Governor’s resume. Most should remember Fulop will only be 48 years old in 2025, a perfect age for his progressive run as governor. Let’s also be clear, Fulop is no political chump. He is politically astute and understands as the Mayor of Jersey City, his political soapbox is more powerful than any Congressional seat in New Jersey.  As Congressman, Fulop would become dependent on County Mayors and a new Jersey City Mayor to place him on the County line every 2 years. He is not going to allow the potential of a political coup to be formed. The question now is will any current Fulop ally decide to go rogue to form an opposition ticket against the Mayor in 2021? Absolutely not!! Councilmen Rolando Lavarro & Daniel Rivera, both men rumored to have 2021 Mayoral aspirations, are now left in a lurch without a foreseeable landing spot. Lavarro, in my opinion, should be eyeing one seat, and should call on Fulop to assist him in gaining favor with the next HCDO chairman Brian Stack. Rolando, I can envision you serving as the Hudson County Executive after a retiring Tom DeGise.  Rivera, in my opinion, should be following the same path as Lavarro by gaining favor as the possible replacement for Albio Sires in 2020, to becoming the First Puerto Rican Congressman in New Jersey's history.  Why should Lavarro and Rivera set their sights on different paths rather than wait until 2025?  Two names, Councilman James Solomon and State Assemblyman Raj Mukerji, with their million-dollar ELEC accounts in 2025. Both of these young legislators will emerge as the best-financed Candidates.Also, Rolando and Danny, you take as much time as you need to decide, but there a newly elected Hudson County Clerk. One who has a direct access to the newly elected Governor, and can get statewide support for County Executive/Congressional seats.  (HINT: He is Junior in name only.)Enough said I will connect the dots in a later blog.      1 .pagedropcap {float:none;}  GetSubMenuFooter166();  AdGroup11(); GetHighlights2(); AdGroup13();     GetFooterMenu61(); GetContactInformation(); { powered by bulletlink.com }  GetGoogleAnalytics('PAGE:2021_mayors_race_over_in_jersey_city:_danny_&_rolando_time_for_plan_b,_raj');
