However, just a few short months since the November 2017 City Municipal elections, the reality is the worst of times is upon us. By now you are aware of the Jersey City Public School's teachers strike. As it stands today the Police Department is engaged in a civil war against the City Administration and now Public School Educators are in a similar battle with the Mayor’s puppeteers (Ron Greco's words) the Jersey City Board of Education/Administration. Collusion is “hard” to prove, but if you follow the Mayor's Twitterprints, there is no denying both administrations have taken hard anti-union stances against the police and teachers unions.Reflecting back to the days of Superintendent Dr. Charles T. Epps, his tenure maintained a working and inclusive relationship between the JCEA union and the JCBOE Administration.Epps gallantly stepped down from his Superintendent position without engaging in a public war with the architects of his ousting, who undoubtedly colluded with Former Governor Chris Christie, Former Commissioner of Education Chris Cerf, and, at that time, Jersey City Councilman Steven Fulop. Legend has it the Anti-Epps forces even held clandestine meetings in vacant homes during their attempts to hide their affiliation. Dr. Epps knew it would serve no purpose to publicly squabble with his opponents since it would not benefit the 30,000 students he was entrusted to ensure received the best of public education. He stepped down with his dignity in hand and with the keen sense that history would reveal his tenure as successful, even with the restraints of state supervision.Dr. Epps leadership is sorely missed at this time; his intellect, wisdom, and the ability to understand the daily struggles of his students, their families, and that of the District's employees.I recall one evening privately consulting with Dr. Epps at Laico's Restaurant, and I asked if he missed being a Superintendent. He replied, “Yes, I miss it, but the question one day will be, do they miss me. Because, yes, they will".I can surely say I believe many wish Charles was STILL in Charge.      1 .pagedropcap {float:none;}  GetSubMenuFooter166();  AdGroup11(); GetHighlights2(); AdGroup13();     GetFooterMenu61(); GetContactInformation(); { powered by bulletlink.com }  GetGoogleAnalytics('PAGE:the_respect_epps_had_given_is_missing_right_now_at_the_jcboe');
